Here is what the Bible states you need for a successful prayer:
Requirement 1: A Humble heart
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14, NIV)
Requirement 2: A Heart Seeking God
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13, NIV)
Requirement 3: A Heart of Faith
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. (Mark 11:24, NIV)
Requirement 4: A Heart Cleansed from Sin
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (James 5:16, NIV)
Requirement 5: A Heart of Obedience
And we will receive whatever we request because we obey him and do the things that please him. (1 John 3:22, NLT)
The Basics of Giving
Tithing means giving ten percent of your income. But tithing involves more than just giving money to God. We honor God with our resources because we know all we have, or hope to have, comes from God. We are giving back what was His to begin with. Tithing is a reminder that God supplies all our needs and teaches us to always put God first in our lives. Below are some helpful hints on how to make tithing a priority:
Hint 1: Tithing is more of a heart issue than a financial issue, so pray to God that He provides you with a heart for giving.
Hint 2: Create a monthly budget and immediately plan to put aside 10% of your income.
Hint 3: Find the most convenient way to give, so you will be encouraged to give on a regular basis. Antioch has SIX easy ways to give!
